Harrisville Yarn Information. Shetland has been a versatile workhorse for our customers for many years. This yarn is not made from Shetland Wool. Shetland refers to the size of the yarn and not the fiber content. The wool is a blend of an Australian fine wool and a hearty New Zealand wool that gives the yarn it’s luster. Harrisville's Shetland is spun more tightly on the spinning frames (higher turns per inch) so it is highly durable and will wear better and better every year.
Highland is one of Harrisville's flagship yarns, available in many tweedy, heathered, woolen spun colors. This yarn is perfect for a cozy New England sweater, or a favorite pair of mitts. The yarn was engineered to wear better and better with every wash.
I personally love using it to weave rugs
Either of these are excellent for weaving tapestries and my kits are available with aprox 1oz balls of assorted colors. ANY of the colors in stock can be purchased as a windoff - if you just want to change one color in a pack - just make a note under customer contacts. If you want a selection of your choosing - email me your list:

Tapestry weavers note: All Harrisville wools are scoured before spinning and dyeing. The yarn on cones has not had a 'final' wash that makes it bloom (fluff up). You can choose whether or not you want that in your tapestry, but it can certainly be washed after finished.
